Bangkok authorities were working to lower canal levels and drain flooded neighbourhoods on September 28, 2026, after heavy rain affected about 329,000 households, or roughly 700,000 people, according to a Thai government update.
Rain had eased as a low-pressure system moved away, but monsoon showers continued, particularly in the east of the capital. The update identified Lat Krabang, Bang Kapi and Sai Mai among the hardest-hit districts.
Officials said lowering the main canals was necessary before water could drain from surrounding roads and communities. Some areas were expected to take longer to clear. Parts of Phetchaburi Road were reopening and Vibhavadi Rangsit Road was becoming more passable, although flood-related disruption remained.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration had moved about 1,500 bedridden patients to city hospitals, the government said. It was also seeking food, drinking water, boats and vehicles for relief work.
The improving rainfall conditions had therefore not ended the response: drainage and support for affected residents remained the immediate priorities.
