England has expanded its men’s cricket contract list to 39 players and set out separate coaching teams for Test and white-ball cricket, in changes reported on 12 October 2026.
The Guardian reported that the allocation comprises 30 main contracts and nine development deals. An England and Wales Cricket Board announcement confirms the 39-player list and the updated coaching structure.
Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jofra Archer and Jacob Bethell have deals running to September 2028. Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith and Ollie Robinson received one-year contracts, according to the Guardian’s published list.
Stephen Fleming’s Test coaching team will include Marcus Trescothick, James Foster, Richard Dawson and Eric Simons. Dawson also takes responsibility for national spin-bowling development. Brendon McCullum’s white-ball staff will include Tim Southee and Jeetan Patel.
Development contracts supplement county earnings and extend support beyond the main international group. The changes give England a broader contracted player pool while assigning coaches to distinct formats ahead of its winter tours.
