The data makes Ethiopians by far the largest national group among arrivals during the month. The movement continued despite Yemen’s conflict and worsening regional conditions, underscoring the risks faced by people using the migration route across the Gulf of Aden.
An Addis Standard report carried by AllAfrica published the figures on August 12, 2026. The report attributed them to IOM, the United Nations migration agency.
The numbers describe recorded arrivals in a single month and should not be read as a complete count of all migration on the route. They nevertheless point to the continuing importance of the Ethiopia-Yemen corridor and the need for protection, reliable information and humanitarian support for migrants.
