- An EU delegation official told Ethiopian News Agency that the bloc would support Ethiopia’s COP32 preparations and seek closer cooperation on climate and green economic development.

The European Union intends to support Ethiopia’s preparations for COP32, an EU delegation official said in an interview published by Ethiopian News Agency on 18 September 2026.
Adrián Cano Guerrero, the delegation’s program officer for trade, economic and private sector development, said the bloc planned close engagement with Ethiopian institutions ahead of the climate conference. ENA’s report was also carried by AllAfrica.
Guerrero identified environmental protection and economic development as areas for broader cooperation. Potential work could include water management, environmental standards and activities designed to make development more resilient to climate change.
The remarks set out an intention to cooperate. The report did not specify a funding amount, an implementation timetable or a signed agreement for COP32 support.
Guerrero also described EU engagement in sustainable agriculture, digitalization and green energy, placing the proposed climate cooperation within a wider relationship with Ethiopia.
