The Oromo thanksgiving festival Irreecha Hora Harsade drew crowds to the lakeside and public gathering places in Bishoftu on 4 October 2026, according to Fana Media Corporation and the Ethiopian News Agency.

Traditional leaders, the Aba Gadas, opened the celebration with blessings for peace, unity and prosperity, both outlets reported. ENA described participants wearing traditional clothing and taking part in songs, prayers and thanksgiving rituals at Lake Hora Arsedi, another spelling used for the festival site.

The Bishoftu gathering followed the Hora Finfinne celebration in Addis Ababa on 3 October. The two events take place at separate sites as part of Irreecha, the Oromo thanksgiving observance associated with the transition out of the rainy season.

The reports describe large crowds but do not provide a verified attendance count.
