Bayern Munich winger Jamal Musiala has disclosed that he experiences treatable absence seizures linked to a neurological condition, after collapsing during two friendly matches in four days.

The 23-year-old Germany international fell to the ground shortly after entering Bayern’s friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and was substituted after receiving medical attention. He had experienced a similar episode during a friendly against RB Leipzig three days earlier.

In a public statement, Musiala said the episodes are brief and temporary and that he is receiving specialist care. He said neurologists had cleared him to continue playing and that he did not face an additional health risk from doing so.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said the club was aware of the situation before Musiala issued his statement. Musiala asked for privacy while saying he wanted supporters to understand the cause of the incidents.

Absence seizures can involve short periods of impaired awareness. Musiala described his condition in his own terms; no independent medical records were released with the statement.
