A posthumous album drawn from Ethiopian singer Madingo Afework’s final studio recordings is being prepared for release by the end of Meskerem 2019 E.C., in October 2026, according to a report published by The Reporter on September 12, 2026.
Production manager Zelalem Mekuria told the newspaper that the release date had not yet been disclosed. The Reporter said it also confirmed the plan with the artist’s family legal representatives and event organisers.
Madingo’s daughter, Dibora Madingo, is coordinating the project. The recordings will be released through the singer’s official YouTube channel, which she manages, rather than sold in physical formats, the report said. A launch event is planned, with details still to be announced.
The project brings together material Madingo recorded before his death in September 2022. Zelalem said the production team gathered unfinished recordings from different studios and worked with music specialists to complete the arrangements around the existing vocals.
The planned release would give listeners access to previously unfinished work four years after the singer’s death. Its timing remains a release plan; no exact launch day has been confirmed.
