Mitch Winehouse ordered to pay £950,000 to Amy Winehouse’s friends
A London High Court judge ordered Mitch Winehouse to pay £950,000 to two of his late daughter’s friends after his unsuccessful case over auctioned possessions.
Mitch Winehouse has been ordered to pay £950,000 to two friends of his late daughter, Amy Winehouse, after losing a London High Court dispute over clothes and other possessions they sold at auction.
Former stylist Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay sold 155 items between 2021 and 2023, including clothing, ballet slippers, handbags, earrings and makeup. They said the singer had given or lent the items to them and denied acting dishonestly.
Mitch Winehouse argued the women had no right to sell the property. The court rejected his claim earlier in 2026, finding that he knew about the planned sale and pursued payment after it had taken place.
In the costs ruling issued Wednesday, July 29, judge Sarah Clarke said the case was inherently weak and had been pursued aggressively with serious unfounded allegations that harmed the defendants’ reputations, careers, finances and health.
Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at age 27. The dispute concerned ownership and sale proceeds from her possessions, not rights to her music.
