Russian officials report two deaths and Moscow refinery damage after drone attack

Russian officials said two people were killed in the Moscow region and the capital’s oil refinery was damaged in a drone attack on September 20, 2026.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian forces had brought down more than 1,600 drones since September 19, including 450 heading toward the capital, according to Reuters. These are Russian authorities’ figures; AddisMizan has not independently verified the interception count.

The Associated Press also reported the two deaths, citing the regional governor, and said Sobyanin reported damage to the refinery and a residential building. The reports corroborate what officials announced, rather than independently establishing responsibility for every strike.
