Rescuers in Nepal found a Chinese man and a Nepali woman alive in separate operations on September 5, 2026, ten days after the floods of August 26, according to reports by The Guardian and Associated Press citing the Nepali military.
The man was brought out of a tunnel at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project. The woman was rescued from a damaged house in Nuwakot. Both discoveries came as search teams continued working through flood debris.
The Guardian reported that Nepali soldiers and South Korean disaster specialists carried out the tunnel rescue. It said the man underwent a health assessment, while the woman was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment.
These were separate operations from the rescue of two Nepali workers at another Trishuli River hydropower tunnel on September 4, 2026, which AddisMizan previously covered.
Damaged roads and bridges have complicated access to the affected areas. Search operations have focused in part on hydropower tunnels, where workers remain missing, according to The Guardian.
