Russian missile strikes kill seven in Kryvyi Rih and Kyiv
Russian missile attacks killed six people near Kryvyi Rih and one in Kyiv on July 30, Ukrainian officials said, with two children among the dead.
Russian missile strikes killed at least seven people in Ukrainian cities early Thursday, July 30, according to Ukrainian local and military authorities.
Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih military administration, said an Iskander-M ballistic missile struck a private home in a village outside the central city, killing six members of one family. The dead included girls aged five and 12, and eight other people were wounded.
Kyiv’s military administration confirmed one death in the capital. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires in several districts and urged residents to remain in shelters because further attacks were possible. Residential buildings were also reported damaged in Lviv.
Poland scrambled fighter aircraft and activated air-defence and radar systems as a precaution during the attacks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned late Wednesday of a possible large-scale Russian assault and renewed his appeal to allies for additional air-defence missiles.
In Russia, the governor of Penza region said a Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire at a warehouse, injuring one person and prompting the evacuation of about 200 people. Those accounts were statements by officials in the countries at war.
