The Korean Film Council made the selection, according to a report published by Variety on August 25, 2026. The choice puts the film forward as South Korea’s national entry; it does not itself guarantee an Academy Award nomination.
“Possible Love” is Lee’s first feature film in eight years. His earlier films include “Burning,” “Poetry” and “Secret Sunshine.”
The film follows two married couples whose lives intersect. Further details about the Academy’s international-feature shortlist and nominations will emerge later in the awards process.
