Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” collected $355 million from 4,487 North American cinemas in its opening weekend, according to industry publication Variety.
The result placed the film just behind 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” which opened with $357 million, in the ranking of domestic debut weekends. The comparison is not adjusted for inflation.
The narrow gap makes “Brand New Day” the second-largest North American opening weekend on record by nominal ticket revenue.
