Tim Curry, the British actor whose portrayal of Dr Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Show” and its film adaptation made him a cult icon, has died at the age of 80.
Curry died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, according to his manager, whose confirmation was reported on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. A cause of death had not been announced.
His career stretched across theatre, film, television and voice acting. Alongside “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” his best-known screen roles included performances in “Annie,” “Clue,” “Legend” and the television adaptation of Stephen King’s “It.”
Tributes followed the announcement, with fellow performers including Carol Burnett, Michael McKean and Luke Evans remembering Curry’s influence and range.
