Russian authorities said at least six people were killed in the Ukrainian assault, including five in the Rostov region and one near Moscow. A large distribution warehouse in Podolsk, south of the Russian capital, caught fire. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it had intercepted hundreds of drones; those figures could not be independently verified.
Russia also carried out missile and drone attacks across Ukraine. Ukrainian officials reported deaths in the Sumy region, Kryvyi Rih and elsewhere, while a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv injured six people and caused fires, including at the Petrovka book market.
A Spanish F-18 operating on a NATO patrol shot down a drone after it entered Romanian airspace at about 5 a.m., according to a NATO military spokesperson cited by The Guardian. The spokesperson said the aircraft appeared to be Russian. The incident added a cross-border dimension to an intensifying campaign of long-range attacks by both sides.
Ukraine has expanded its deep-strike drone and missile capacity during 2026, while Russia continues sustained attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. Casualty and interception figures issued during active conflict remain subject to revision.
