Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced 62 state-minister appointments on October 10, 2026, extending Ethiopia’s federal leadership reshuffle after the cabinet changes earlier in the week.
Fana Media Corporation reported the total across federal ministries and government institutions. The Reporter independently reported the appointments and said the Office of the Prime Minister announced posts across 22 ministries.
Among those appointed is Yodahe Arayasellassie, the former head of Ethiopia’s National ID Program, who will serve as a state minister in the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, according to The Reporter. His appointment brings experience from the Fayda digital identity initiative into the ministry’s leadership.
The Reporter also reported that Bareo Hassen, previously a state minister in the transport and logistics sector, and Sileshi Girma, formerly a state minister in tourism, were appointed to the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
The new appointments follow changes to federal ministries discussed in Parliament on October 7, 2026, and cabinet approval on October 8, 2026. They represent a further round of appointments below cabinet level as the reorganized administration fills its senior posts.
