- Fana reports that parliament unanimously approved 22 ministerial nominees on October 8, 2026, as Temesgen Tiruneh and Gedion Timothewos returned to their posts.

Ethiopia’s House of Peoples’ Representatives approved all 22 ministerial nominees submitted by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on October 8, 2026, according to Fana Media Corporation. Fana reported that the vote was unanimous and took place during the second regular session of the seventh parliamentary term.
Separate Fana reports on the same date said Temesgen Tiruneh was appointed to a second term as deputy prime minister and Gedion Timothewos was reappointed as foreign minister. Both reports said the officials took their oaths of office.
The appointments follow a proposed reorganisation of federal executive responsibilities. The Reporter reported on October 7 that a draft proclamation submitted to parliament would retain 22 ministry-level institutions while changing several portfolios. It said the Council of Ministers had approved the draft on September 28, 2026.
Among the proposed changes were a separate logistics ministry, a national strategy ministry replacing the planning and development ministry, and revised culture, tourism, youth and sports portfolios, according to The Reporter. Those structural proposals are distinct from the October 8 vote approving ministerial nominees; the sources reviewed do not establish that the draft proclamation has become law.
