Ben Simmons has agreed to a one-year contract with the Sacramento Kings, according to reports on 4 September 2026, setting up an NBA return after he missed the entire 2025–26 season.

The Australian guard last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in April 2025. He spent the following season rehabilitating back and leg injuries, making his ability to sustain a return a central question for his next chapter.
Sacramento would be his fourth NBA team, following Philadelphia, Brooklyn and the Clippers. Philadelphia selected him first overall in the 2016 draft, and he later earned the league’s 2017–18 rookie of the year award.
The move also follows Simmons’ participation in an Australian national-team mini-camp in Melbourne in August 2026. That provides context for his wider comeback ambitions, although the Sacramento agreement does not establish his selection for a future international tournament.
