Bouchier century leads England to record ODI chase against Ireland

Maia Bouchier scored 104 as England completed their highest successful chase in women’s one-day internationals, defeating Ireland by six wickets at Grace Road in Leicester on September 1.

Ireland posted 281 for five after half-centuries from Amy Hunter, captain Gaby Lewis and Rebecca Stokell. England reached 283 for four with 71 balls remaining to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Sophia Dunkley accelerated the chase with 73 from 61 deliveries before Bouchier reached her century. Alice Capsey and Freya Kemp maintained the scoring rate after Bouchier was dismissed.

England fielded a changed side, with regular captain Nat Sciver-Brunt injured and several senior players rested. Stand-in captain Charlie Dean led an attack that conceded 33 extras, including 20 wides, despite the comfortable chase.
