Bournemouth have rejected a reported £64 million bid from Chelsea for midfielder Alex Scott and have told the London club they do not want further approaches, according to BBC Sport.
The report was updated late on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Neither Bournemouth nor Chelsea had announced an agreement or issued a public statement confirming the offer.
Scott, 22, has two years remaining on his Bournemouth contract. BBC Sport reported that he has turned down a new deal which had been offered by the south-coast club, but Bournemouth continue to insist that he will stay for the 2026-27 season.
Chelsea’s approach comes amid strong demand for young Premier League midfielders. The club completed a reported £117 million move for Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa on Tuesday, yet has also pursued Scott.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have also shown interest in Scott during the summer window. Sky Sports reported in June that Manchester United and Arsenal had made inquiries and that Bournemouth had made clear they did not wish to sell.
Bournemouth’s negotiating position has been strengthened by qualification for the 2026-27 UEFA Europa League and by income from several major player sales in the previous summer. Scott is currently with the squad at new head coach Marco Rose’s pre-season camp in Austria.
The England Under-21 international joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for £25 million. He has made 89 appearances and scored six goals for the club, according to BBC Sport.
