Enric Mas secured his first Vuelta a España title on September 13, 2026, as the race finished in Granada, ending a run of three second-place finishes in the Spanish Grand Tour.

The Movistar rider finished 2 minutes 15 seconds ahead of Primoz Roglic in the overall standings. Felix Gall placed third, another 30 seconds behind, according to The Guardian’s final-stage report.

Mas protected his advantage in the September 10 individual time trial and increased it in the final mountain stage on September 12. His victory was Movistar’s first at the Vuelta since Nairo Quintana won in 2016.

Norway’s Tobias Johannessen won the 112-kilometre closing stage, beating Alessandro Romele and Ramses Debruyne in the sprint. The final 9.8 kilometres were neutralised for the overall classification following riders’ safety concerns, The Guardian reported.

For Mas, runner-up in 2018, 2021 and 2022, the result delivered his first Grand Tour championship.
