- Chief commissioner Mesfin Araya says Ethiopia’s Dialogue Commission plans to submit all 400 conference recommendations to parliament on 3 October 2026, following postponements.

Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Commission plans to deliver its final recommendations to the House of Peoples’ Representatives on 3 October 2026, chief commissioner Mesfin Araya told The Reporter in a report published on 1 October.
The planned afternoon presentation follows two postponements. Mesfin said the original 20 September date was moved to give the commission more time to refine the document and assign responsibility for implementation. A later presentation was delayed while regional and city administrations formed new governments.
According to Mesfin, the document retains all 400 recommendations adopted at the national dialogue conference, which ran from 15 July to 22 August 2026 and involved more than 4,000 participants.
Recommendations will go to the federal, regional and city institutions responsible for acting on them. Mesfin said those concerning Tigray would be delivered to the federal government because of the region’s circumstances.
The submission would move the process from compiling conference outcomes toward institutional consideration and implementation. It would not itself establish that the recommendations have been adopted or carried out. The Reporter said the recommendations were expected to be released publicly in the coming days.
