Drivers in the United Kingdom can see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps from October 8, 2026, using data from the government’s Fuel Finder service, The Guardian reported.

The feature lets motorists check local filling stations in the app when comparing pump prices. Fuel Finder covers 99% of UK forecourts, according to the report, expanding access to information already available through services including Waze and motoring organisations’ apps.

The government launched Fuel Finder in February 2026 following a recommendation from the Competition and Markets Authority in 2023. The scheme is intended to make price comparisons easier and strengthen competition among retailers.

The AA welcomed Google’s participation, saying wider access could help drivers identify stations offering lower prices. That is an expected benefit, rather than evidence that the launch has already reduced prices. The feature concerns UK filling stations; the report does not announce availability in Ethiopia.
