A United States federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by consumers seeking to block the proposed $111 billion merger between Paramount and Warner Bros., according to Variety on August 6, 2026.
Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing to pursue the challenge. The group consisted of three current Paramount+ subscribers and two prospective subscribers, Variety reported.
The decision removes this particular consumer challenge but does not itself settle every regulatory or legal question surrounding the transaction.
