Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Angels from owner Arte Moreno, with the transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.

The deal remains subject to approval by Major League Baseball and its owners. The Guardian, citing ESPN, reported a price of $4 billion, which would exceed the league’s previous sale record. Neither the buyer nor seller disclosed a price in the statements cited by the report.

KSE is led by Stan Kroenke and already owns teams across several major competitions, including Arsenal in the English Premier League, the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL, the Denver Nuggets in the NBA, the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL and the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer.

Moreno bought the Angels from Walt Disney Co. in 2003 for $183.5 million. The club reached the playoffs five times in his first seven years as owner but has made the postseason only once in the past 16 seasons. The Angels said KSE’s experience made it the preferred next owner, while Kroenke described the franchise as being anchored in a strong market.
