Lando Norris Wins Hungarian Grand Prix for First Formula One Victory of 2026
McLaren’s Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix from pole position, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli for his first Formula One victory of the season.
Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 26 to claim his first Formula One victory of the 2026 season and McLaren’s first win of the year.
Norris started from pole and finished 15.080 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli completed the podium after starting seventh, while Charles Leclerc finished fourth and Lewis Hamilton was classified fifth after receiving a five-second penalty.
McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri had led earlier in the race but retired on lap 56 with a gearbox problem. The result was Norris’s second consecutive victory at the Hungaroring and the 12th Formula One win of his career.
Antonelli retained the drivers’ championship lead as the series entered its summer break. The race result was reported consistently by The Guardian and Al Jazeera.
