- Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland each scored twice as Manchester City won 4-1 at Crystal Palace on August 28 to maintain a perfect Premier League start.

Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park on Friday, August 28, 2026, with Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland scoring two goals apiece.
Palace remained in contention before City pulled away in the second half. Cherki was central to the visitors’ attacking performance, including a finish with the outside of his left foot following a run through the Palace defence.
The result gave City back-to-back victories at the start of the Premier League season and preserved their perfect record. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, suffered another defeat in their opening fixtures.
The win also continued Cherki’s influential start to his second season in England. He had come off the bench to provide two assists in City’s comeback against Bournemouth the previous week before producing the decisive scoring display at Selhurst Park.
