Manchester United returned to the Champions League with a 4–0 victory over Azerbaijan’s Sabah at Old Trafford on September 10, 2026, scoring three times before half-time.

Matheus Cunha opened the scoring from a Patrick Dorgu cross. Bruno Fernandes then finished a move involving Cunha and Youri Tielemans before Benjamin Sesko rounded the goalkeeper to give United a commanding interval lead, according to The Guardian’s match report.

Lisandro Martínez added the fourth late in the second half after a United free-kick caused confusion in the visitors’ defence. Sabah had threatened before the break, with Joy-Lance Mickels heading wide from a Kaheem Parris cross while the match was still closer.

The game marked Sabah’s Champions League debut and United’s return to the competition after a two-year absence. Michael Carrick’s side controlled the second half, while Mason Mount came on at the interval for his first appearance of the season.

The result gives United a win ahead of their next Premier League meeting with Manchester City, following a draw at Everton in their previous league match.
