The completed deal replaces terms that had been due to expire in 2027. It converts an agreement in principle reported in May into a signed contract and removes near-term uncertainty over the future of one of City’s longest-serving academy graduates.
Foden joined Manchester City’s academy as a child and has spent his entire senior career at the club. His new commitment gives City long-term continuity as the club shapes its squad for the seasons ahead.
The agreement had been expected: The Guardian reported on May 5 that Foden and City had reached terms on a four-year extension, with the formalities still outstanding at that stage. Sky Sports reported the club’s confirmation on July 22 that the contract has now been signed.
