Captain Lawrence Shankland converted a penalty in the 19th minute to erase the visitors’ advantage from Jagiellonia’s 2-1 first-leg win in Poland. Rangers could not sustain the recovery, however, and Nik Prelec equalised for Jagiellonia in the 65th minute.
The home side were unable to find the goal needed to force extra time, and supporters voiced their frustration at the final whistle. The result leaves Rangers without a win in four competitive matches since Derek McInnes took charge during the summer.
Rangers will now face Czech side Jablonec in the Conference League playoff round. The defeat ends their bid to reach the Europa League proper and places added pressure on McInnes as the club searches for its first competitive victory of the season.
