Reform UK has suspended two senior officials pending an internal investigation after undercover reporting raised allegations that they discussed ways to channel political support from an ineligible foreign donor.
Dan Jukes, a longtime senior aide to party leader Nigel Farage, and James Orr, the party’s head of policy, stepped aside after footage produced by investigative group Verbatim and broadcast by Channel 4 News. The reporting alleged that the pair discussed arrangements involving polling paid for by a foreign company and a possible donation routed through a UK intermediary.
British law restricts political donations from impermissible foreign sources. The Metropolitan Police is assessing material following a complaint, according to the Guardian. No finding of wrongdoing has been made, and Jukes, Orr and Farage deny wrongdoing.
Farage said the officials were not authorised to fundraise and argued that Reform UK’s compliance procedures would have blocked an impermissible contribution. Jukes described the operation as entrapment involving selective editing, while Orr said he would cooperate with the party’s inquiry.
The University of Cambridge, where Orr is an associate professor, separately said it was looking into the matter. The controversy dominated Reform UK’s conference in Birmingham on September 4, 2026.
