Amiloc lost jockey Hector Crouch as the horse left the starting stalls and later moved to the front of the field. With about three furlongs remaining, the riderless horse drifted across Scandinavia and Trawlerman as the two principal contenders advanced.
Ryan Moore continued riding Scandinavia through the incident, while Trawlerman and jockey William Buick lost momentum. Scandinavia then pulled clear to confirm his earlier Ascot Gold Cup victory over the same rival. Amiloc remained ahead of the winner as a riderless runner but did not count in the result.
Buick said the interference came at a decisive stage and made it difficult to judge its full effect. The eventual margin suggested Scandinavia was the stronger stayer on the day, though the incident denied spectators a clean head-to-head finish between the leading pair.
The victory reinforced Scandinavia’s position among the leading long-distance horses in British flat racing. Elsewhere on the Goodwood card, Lake Forest won the Group Two Lennox Stakes by a neck and could return for Wednesday’s Group One Sussex Stakes if connections are satisfied with the horse’s condition.
