Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar has confirmed that he will compete in the 2026 Vuelta a España, which begins in Monaco on August 22 and ends in Granada on September 13.
The Slovenian returns to the race for the first time since 2019, when he made his Grand Tour debut, finished third overall, won three stages and took the best young rider classification.
Pogacar enters the Vuelta after winning his fifth Tour de France title and the Giro d’Italia earlier in 2026. Victory in Spain would complete his collection of overall titles in cycling’s three Grand Tours.
The route includes eight mountain stages and more than 40 kilometres of individual time trials. After an opening-weekend time trial in Monaco, the race travels through Andorra and along Spain’s Mediterranean coast before stages around Córdoba, Málaga and Seville and the finale in Granada.
Pogacar said his motivation was high and described the Vuelta as a major target for the remainder of the season. His schedule also includes the World Road Race Championships in Montreal on September 27, two weeks after the Spanish tour concludes.
