Ethiopian distance runner Yomif Kejelcha set a men’s half-marathon world record of 56 minutes 51 seconds at the Buenos Aires Half Marathon on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

The performance cut 29 seconds from the previous ratified record of 57:20, which Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo set at the Lisbon Half Marathon. The result returns the global mark to Kejelcha and adds another major distance-running achievement for Ethiopia.
