Roads approaching Meskel Square in Addis Ababa are to close to vehicles from 11 a.m. on September 26, 2026, until the Meskel-Demera celebration ends, according to a police announcement reported by Fana.
Stopping and parking on the specified roads are also prohibited from 6 a.m. on September 26. The announcement gives no fixed reopening time.
Affected approaches include the route from 22 Mazoria at St. Urael Church Square; the Bole Airport approach at Dembel and Olympia; and the Gofa–Tabot Maderiya route at the St. Qirqos Church intersection.
Closures also cover the Mexico Square approach at the Legehar traffic light, the Legehar Tele–stadium route at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia domed-building intersection, and the Churchill Avenue–Ambassador Park route at the Harembee Hotel traffic light.
The Arat Kilo approach is affected at the National Palace intersection, while the Kazanchis approach is closed at Mekrez Hospital.
