Anthropic has committed $11.6 billion to Akamai cloud services over seven years, Akamai announced on September 24, 2026, expanding the artificial intelligence company’s access to computing infrastructure.
The agreement will support Anthropic’s growing workloads on central processing units, or CPUs, using Akamai’s distributed infrastructure and software. It also allows the companies to negotiate up to $9 billion in additional purchases. That expansion is optional and is separate from the announced commitment.
Akamai said it issued Anthropic a warrant that could ultimately represent about 5% of its outstanding common stock. A portion equivalent to roughly 2% is expected to vest in connection with the initial agreement; the remaining portion depends on further spending.
The infrastructure buildout carries substantial costs. Akamai estimated related capital expenditure at about $5.5 billion, including a $1.7 billion increase in its 2026 spending to secure components such as memory. It said the announcement would not change its 2026 revenue guidance.
