The company kept standard prices at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Its claim of savings of up to 30% per task comes from using fewer tokens in its testing, rather than a reduction in those unit prices. Anthropic also reported output generation more than 30% faster than its predecessor.
Those figures are company-reported results, not independent findings by AddisMizan, and do not establish the savings for every workload.
Anthropic describes Sonnet 5.5 as a complement to Opus 5.5, which it continues to favour for complex work requiring sustained judgment. It said the new Sonnet model was available through its own platform and cloud providers including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
