Isar Aerospace said its Spectrum rocket reached orbit and deployed payloads on September 5, 2026, completing an orbital mission on the vehicle’s second flight.
The mission, named Onward and Upward, lifted off from the company’s launch site at Andøya Space in Norway at 22:12 Central European Summer Time, according to an Isar Aerospace statement issued that day.
The company reported successful stage separation, ignition of the upper-stage engine and spacecraft separation after the manoeuvre to circularise the orbit. It said it was working with customers to confirm the status of the satellites, leaving their operating condition subject to further checks.
The payloads were selected through the German Space Agency at DLR’s Microlauncher Competition, which provides educational institutions and start-ups with lower-cost access to space and receives funding through ESA’s Boost programme.
Isar Aerospace said Spectrum vehicles three through seven were already in production. The completed flight advances the company’s effort to supply launch services for small and medium-sized satellites.
